Great weather so we sat outside on their shaded picnic tables. The people serving were just so friendly and accommodating and cheerful! Wife love her chili dog and me my Chicago dog. Chili sauce excellent. Root beer excellent!

Stopped in yesterday for a 1/2 gal of beer and some chili dogs to take back to Wisconsin. We moved out of Illinois a few years ago, so the only time we can stop is when we visit family who still live in the area. I've patronized Hey Hot Dog since they were on Cass Street, when my Dad and I would stop in. 50+ years later, the root beer is still the same, delicious blend I remember when I was a kid. Yesterday, I was again reminded me that having a draft root beer without a chili dog - or vice-versa - is just wrong. And if you don't enjoy both from this place, you are doing yourself a great disservice. The only thing I regret is not being able to sit at the counter.

We stopped by Hey Hot Dog during a big road trip across the US. We got there just before closing and the staff were super welcoming and helpful. We had a Chicago, Chilli dog and of course their house rootbeer. The food was delicious and it was a great experience overall.

First time there today. Owner was super nice. Hot dog different than a typical Chicago dog with the Milano bun. Got a kraut dog as well was excellent. Get a root beer you’ll thank me later
